LAURA EST

The Gillikin and The Exile are the first two books in the plan of a four-part 'The Yellow Brick Road Series' that offer a rugged, reimagined perspective on L. Frank Baum's whimsical American fairy tales, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and his subsequent series of Oz novels.

If you like the grittier side of fairytale retellings, a touch of nostalgia, and a strong anti-hero trope, The Gillikin and The Exile are guaranteed to keep you up well past your bedtime.
BIO

Laura Est was born in Illinois, grew up in Wisconsin, and has lived in Minnesota, Oregon, and now resides in sunny (and hot!) northern California. Growing up without a TV until fifth grade cemented her love of reading and that love transitioned into writing in adulthood. She especially loves alternate and origin stories from minor characters’ and villains’ perspectives, which culminated in her debut novel, The Gillikin.

She lives with a husband and a corgi who (mostly) keep her hermit tendencies in check, and when she’s not writing, she’s playing percussion and violin in the local symphonies, and scheming to get out of social obligations.
